Te Ripeka Puawai | The Lotus and the Cross: Te Moananui-a-Kiwa Study Pilgrimage

This pilgrimage provides a rich, immersive opportunity to explore the history of Christianity and Anglicanism in Hong Kong and Macau. Beginning with the arrival of the Gospel, participants will trace the establishment of the Anglican Church and its expansion through key historical events and ministries. Through the lens of shared colonial histories, the course will also offer insights into indigenous expressions of being Anglican, fostering a deeper connection to both the past and the global Anglican community.
The Diocese of Polynesia delegation is led by Fr. Salacieli Koroi, alongside Fr. Aminiasi Saku, Kate Tarere, Siteri Nakula, and Samu Tuiwaiwai. This pilgrimage brings with them a wealth of spiritual insight and cultural knowledge, from their diverse backgrounds enriching the experience for all participants.
The objective of this pilgrimage is to explore significant events, places, and figures that have shaped the Anglican Church in the region. To connect with the wider Anglican Communion by learning about the global impact of colonial history on the Anglican Church. To foster cultural exchange and deepen understanding of the shared colonial histories between the Pacific and Hong Kong.
By the end of the pilgrimage, participants will have gained a comprehensive understanding of the region's Anglican history and its connection to the wider worldwide Anglican family. This pilgrimage will also strengthen cultural ties and provide fresh perspectives on the indigenous expressions of faith that resonate throughout the shared colonial histories.
