BS501 Reading the Old Testament in Oceania 10 Credits
This paper introduces students to the First Testament in the Hebrew and Christian Canon. The introduction is by reading representative texts emphasizing theological themes and their approaches in the present Oceania context. Students will also be introduced to the First Testament in the ancient and contemporary context and the function and literary genre of the Pentateuch (first five books), Historical Writings and Prophets.
BS502 Reading the New Testament in Oceania 10 Credits
This paper introduces students to the New Testament literature by reading representative texts and introducing students in reading scripture and analyzing biblical texts. The students will be introduced to the genre of the different writings in the New Testament and their approaches in Oceania.
BS504 Women in the Bible 10 Credits
This paper allows students to explore the colorful women in the Bible, their portrayal and the social issues arising from their presence. It looks at how their Biblical images are being interpreted by popular culture. Students will be introduced to different women in the Bible and their roles, the social issues that these women are facing, and will introduce the students on skills of interpreting the Bible text and to apply their knowledge in their ministry context.

TS501 Exploring the Divine in Moana 10 Credits
Context – Thinking and doing theology in the PacificThis paper allows students to explore theologically into their distinctive context. This paper depicts a bro knowledge on the guide to contextual theology. It focusses on how God has enriched the Moana context in various cultural ethos know only to the Pacifica people. As theologians, these innate presence of God requires theological reflection for clarification, relevancy and simplicity to the Oceania.
TS502 Anglican Theology 10 Credits
This paper introduces students to the history of the Anglican theology and theologians. They are introduced to the sources of Anglican theology and their contributions towards worship.
TS503 Care of Creation: Biblical and Tikanga Perspective 10 Credits
This paper allows students to be aware of the environmental issues with reference to local and global impact and to introduce the biblical and indigenous perspectives on creation and theologies that underpin those perspectives. This paper also allows students to develop and approach to ministry that encompasses care of the environment.

ML501 Doing Leadership in Context: An Introduction 10 Credits
This paper introduces students to the different theories and models of leadership in community. It allows participants to describe, explain and evaluate the types of leadership within a multi-ethnic/cultural environment.
ML503 Leading Communities to Faith 30 Credits
This paper enables students to reflect, understand and explore current social and political issues which help us understand what church is in Oceania. To use appropriate theological understanding as tools to reflect on current social issues in Oceania which bring people of faith together as a community.
ML504 Identity and Discipleship in Oceania 30 Credits
This paper introduces participants to the different dimensions of identity formation – communitarian, religious and personal. Participants will explore the understanding of these in relation to discipleship in Oceania.
LT501 What is Liturgy? What is Liturgical Theology? 10 Credits
This paper allows students to learn to write liturgy based on general principles. They will explore the dynamics of worship and what makes a ‘good’ liturgy. They will explore how culture informs worship and liturgy. They will explore what ‘liturgical theology’ is and how the four elements (catholicity and conceptuality; the transcendence and the immanence of God; form and freedom; divine revelation and human experience) are held in creative tension in worship. They will critique actual worship settings for the dimensions raised above.
LT502 Liturgy in Context 30 Credits
This paper allows students to integrate theory and practical elements of doing liturgical theology. It allows the student to experience and critique worship contexts and hold in tension the divine aspects and the human aspect in worship. Students are given the opportunities to attend and critique different worship contexts and explore ways of being (culture) in creating meaningful liturgy and worship.
LT503 An Introduction to the Preaching Ministry 10 Credits
This paper allows participants to learn a biblical understanding of the ministry of preaching. They will write and deliver sermons in liturgical and pastoral contexts. Participants will learn the crucial steps in constructing a biblical sermon. This paper is also designed to give a general introduction to the theology of preaching and theo the art and craft of sermon design and delivery. The nature of preaching the person of the preacher, and the principles of sermon construction will be discussed further during the course.
LT504 Spirituality for Ministry in Oceania 10 Credits
This paper allows the participants to be formed as disciples of Jesus Christ in Aotearoa New Zealand and Polynesia by exploring the questions of ‘Who God is’. This paper also allows participants to use community and individual Christian spiritual disciplines to practice discernment and to explore indigenous understanding of the sacred and spiritual practices and their intersections with the Christian understanding of God.
MM501 Talaiga 10 Credits
The Mission of the Diocese of Polynesia (DOP) in a 3 Tikanga ChurchThis paper examines the framework of the Constitution/Te Pouhere of the Anglican Church in Aotearoa New Zealand and Polynesia with a focus on the principles of ‘partnership’ and ‘bicultural development’ for mission and ministry in a ‘Three Tikanga Church’. i.e. Tikanga Polynesia, Tikanga Maori, and Tikanga Pakeha. The participants will also be given the opportunity to explore the history of the Anglican Church in Aotearoa/ New Zealand and Polynesia, the Christian ethic of ‘right relationships,’ and the Anglican Communion’s Five Marks of Mission’ as they speak into the mission and ministry of Tikanga Polynesia.
MM502 Hermeneutics of Community Health 10 Credits
Biblical and Tikanga PerspectivesThis paper introduces participants to the socio-cultural determinants of “Community health and Wellness” in the context of Aotearoa New Zealand and Polynesia. The participants also given the opportunity to develop a ministry approach informed by the study of Scripture to issues in health and wellness.
MM504 A Koro Identity and Leadership 20 Credits
This paper introduces participants to the term ‘Koro’ and how it relates to being a community of Christ which acknowledges that relationship with Christ is fundamental to being a Christian.
MM504 B Christian Ethics in Ministry 10 Credits
This paper enables students to appreciate and understand the theological backgrounds of pastoral ethics and to begin to use these appropriately in current ministry/pastoral situations.
