The new academic year at St. John the Baptist Theological College has begun with two weeks dedicated to orientation, setting a strong foundation for the journey ahead.

In the first week, we had the privilege of welcoming and engaging with the Compass Rose Society pilgrimage. This was a significant moment as students participated in a cultural welcome and observed high-level Talanoa discussions. This experience provided deep insights into the global Anglican community and its evolving mission.

The second week of orientation has focused on preparing students for their theological studies. Key sessions included a Recap and Overview of the Bible Story and an exploration of the themes of the Justice and Righteousness of God, led by Dr. Rebecca Burgess and Rev. Dr. Andrew Burgess from Bishopdale Theological College in Nelson, New Zealand. Additionally, students visited the Pacific Theological College (PTC) library to register as members, ensuring access to essential academic resources that will support their studies.

Last day of the orientation marked a significant moment for St. John the Baptist Theological College (SJTBTC) as the community gathered for the Eucharist service to celebrate the beginning of the academic year. Rev. Dr. Andrew presided over the sacred service, bringing students, faculty, and staff together in prayer and thanksgiving as they embarked on a new journey of learning and spiritual growth. The occasion was further enriched by a warm reflection from Dr. Rebecca, who shared words of wisdom and encouragement, inspiring all to embrace the year ahead with faith and dedication. The service set a strong foundation for the academic and spiritual pursuits of the SJTBTC community.

With orientation coming to a close, students are now ready to begin their classes next week, stepping into a semester filled with theological learning, reflection, and growth. We look forward to a year of deep engagement with Scripture, rich discussions, and spiritual formation.

We extend our prayers and blessings to all students, faculty, and staff as they embark on this academic journey. May this year be one of wisdom, discovery, and faithful service.
