LT501 - What is Liturgy? What is Liturgical Theology?

Course Overview

  • This paper allows students to learn to write liturgy based on general principles. They will explore the dynamics of worship and what makes a ‘good’ liturgy. They will explore how culture informs worship and liturgy. They will explore what ‘liturgical theology’ is and how the four elements (catholicity and conceptuality; the transcendence and the immanence of God; form and freedom; divine revelation and human experience) are held in creative tension in worship. They will critique actual worship settings for the dimensions raised above.
