The Anglican Church Diocese of Polynesia through St. John the Baptist Theological College in Fiji, in collaboration with USP & Pacific TAFE Australia, signed up for a Certificate IV in Resilience (CCA/DRR) Programme for a diverse group of students. On Tuesday, June 18th, the Director for Pacific TAFE Ms. Susan Sela together with the Archbishop of the Diocese of Polynesia, the Most Rev. Sione ‘Uluilakepa, formally marked the course induction at the College’s boardroom. The cohort includes students from St. John the Baptist Theological College, ACOM students from the Pacific Theological College, students joining from ACOM Solomon Islands, local priests from the Diocese of Polynesia in Fiji, and Tonga Episcopal Unit youth community members.

The program focuses on climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction. The Certificate IV in Resilience (CCA/DRR) aims to equip learners with the skills to actively participate in the workforce, especially in roles supporting, coordinating, and leading resilience initiatives. This qualification is crucial for professionals working with communities and government agencies, focusing on monitoring and reporting on resilience projects. The program aims to cultivate a workforce capable of navigating and leading through the challenges posed by climate change and environmental uncertainties, benefiting not only the students but also the communities they serve.

The cohort will empower the participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to bring valuable training programs focusing on cultivating resilience in their respective communities. Through a series of comprehensive workshops and hands-on experiences, participants will be equipped to lead and facilitate growth within their spiritual circles. This initiative not only strengthens individual capabilities but also fosters a sense of collective progress and unity within the community.
