The Diocese of Polynesia is making history by hosting its largest-ever Lay Minister Training program from 13th to 16th February in Suva through the St. John the Baptist Theological College program. More than 70 lay ministers from across the archdeaconries of Vanua Levu, Viti Levu West, Suva, and Ovalau have gathered for this significant event.

This milestone event is part of the Diocese's commitment to maximizing the role of lay ministry, a vision outlined in the Archbishop's Charge and the Anglican Church Diocese of Polynesia Strategic Plan 2024-2030. The plan emphasizes the importance of empowering lay ministers through continuous education to support parish ministry, pastoral care, youth outreach, and social justice initiatives.

The program commenced with an address by the Archbishop, who shared his vision for lay ministry and highlighted the critical role of lay ministers in parish life. Participants gained a deeper understanding of their responsibilities and the importance of worship in their ministry.

The four-day event concluded with a Sunday Eucharist Service at the MAST, presided over by Archbishop the Most Reverend Sione Uluilakepa with assistance from the students of St. John the Baptist Theological College.

This historic training marks a significant step forward in equipping lay ministers to support the Church's mission of proclaiming the Good News and nurturing believers throughout the Diocese of Polynesia.
