Celebrating the Ordination of Deacons: Sua Kolui & Siteri Kauvadra
Holy Trinity Cathedral, Suva - Fiji.
On Sunday, March 16, 2025, the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Suva was filled with joy, prayer, and the presence of the Holy Spirit as we witnessed the sacred ordination of Sua Kolui and Siteri Kauvadra as Deacons. This momentous occasion was officiated by The Most Reverend Sione Uluilakepa, Archbishop of the Anglican Church in Polynesia, marking a significant step in their journey of faith and service.
Sua and Siteri have dedicated themselves to years of rigorous theological training, pastoral care, and spiritual formation at St. John the Baptist Theological College (SJTBTC). Their ordination is not just a personal milestone but a testament to their deep commitment to the ministry and their unwavering faith in God’s calling.
As they knelt before the Archbishop, surrounded by clergy, family, and members of the Anglican community, prayers were lifted for their strength, wisdom, and humility as they stepped into their roles as Deacons, serving the people of God with love and dedication.
The ordination service was a moving and sacred event, enriched by the vibrant culture of Polynesia. The gospel procession, adorned with traditional garb and rhythmic chants, celebrated the deep connection between faith and heritage. The ACOMSA members participated in the offertory procession, incorporating elements of their cultural practices, such as woven floral lei and traditional dances, symbolizing their offerings to God.
Clergy from across the Diocese, along with the SJTBTC faculty and students, joined in the celebration, affirming the importance of theological education in raising up leaders for the Church. The service concluded with a special blessing over Sua and Siteri, sending them forth into their new ministry with the support of the Church and the community.
With their ordination, Sua and Siteri embark on a journey of ministry, stepping into roles where they will proclaim the Word, care for the needy, and be shepherds to God’s people. As Deacons, they will serve within their respective communities, embodying the love of Christ and continuing to grow in their faith and pastoral responsibilities.
At St. John the Baptist Theological College, we celebrate their achievements and pray for God’s continued guidance in their ministry. May their service be a beacon of hope and inspiration to many.
Congratulations, Deacons Sua Kolui and Siteri Kauvadra!
Let us keep them in our prayers as they walk forward in faith and service.
