Archbishop Sione Uluilakepa’s Inspiring Visit to the Diocese of Hawaii to mark the legacy of the late Bishop Alfred Willis and to Strengthen Bonds between the Dioceses

Honolulu, Hawaii – November 2024

Archbishop Sione Uluilakepa of the Anglican Diocese of Polynesia is currently on a official visit to the Diocese of Hawaii in Honolulu, where he is strengthening ties and advancing collaboration between the dioceses. Arriving on November 10th, 2024, Archbishop Uluilakepa has engaged in a series of meetings with leaders, educators, and community members to address shared goals in mission outreach, youth engagement, and educational partnerships.

On November 11th, the Archbishop met with The Right Reverend Bob Fitzpatrick, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Hawaii, where they discussed diocesan initiatives and opportunities for collaboration between the Diocese of Hawaii and the Diocese of Polynesia. Later that day, Archbishop Uluilakepa and Bishop Fitzpatrick hosted a fellowship lunch with the Pacific Peoples engaging in discussions to reinforce community relationships and explore common objectives.

The visit has also focused on advancing education-related partnerships. On November 12th, Archbishop Uluilakepa toured St. Andrew’s Schools, meeting with students, faculty, and school leaders. He participated in a special program designed to bring together young Pacific leaders, focusing on community service and faith development, highlighting his commitment to empowering youth within faith-based and cultural contexts.

On November 13th, the Archbishop will conduct a chapel service at Iolani School, where he will have discussions with educational leaders on promoting educational missions that nurture both cultural and spiritual growth across the region.

Given the common history through the legacy of the late Bishop Alfred Willis, the Diocese of Hawaii is honoured to host Archbishop Sione Uluilakepa and remains dedicated to strengthening collaborative efforts to serve the diverse communities of the Pacific.
